Upfront: ESPN Kicks Off Live A.M. 'SportsCenter'

ESPN's SportsCenterESPN is revamping. The network said Tuesday that it will launch live editions of "SportsCenter" weekdays from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. starting in August.

Rather than run a continuous early-morning loop of "SportsCenters" from the night, the new live format will allow for cut-ins from breaking news, such as press conferences, court appearances and sports-related congressional hearings.

Hannah Storm, formerly of CBS' "Early Show," will serve as one of the AM "SportsCenter" anchors.

Live morning programming will continue on ESPN2 with a simulcast of ESPN Radio's "Mike & Mike in the Morning" and then "First Take."

ESPN also said Tuesday at an upfront event that its daily "College Football Live" show will run year-round at 3:30 p.m. after it returns in August.

Also, the 1 a.m. edition of "SportsCenter" will be broadcast live from a new Los Angeles facility starting next year.

Other new programming initiatives include a series featuring former Sports Illustrated columnist Rick Reilly, who joins ESPN as a magazine writer next month, and an online series featuring offbeat anchor Kenny Mayne.
