Turner Taps Diament To Head Sports Sales

Jon Diament of Turner BroadcastingTurner Broadcasting has tapped former CNN executive Jon Diament to shift roles and head sales for its sports properties, which include Major League Baseball on TBS and the NBA on TNT.

As executive vice president at Turner Sports Ad Sales and Marketing, Diament replaces Trish Frohman, who stepped aside to spend more time with her family, but will continue at the company.

Turner's sports portfolio has been evolving with the acquisition of rights to Major League Baseball, including a run of playoff games. It also operates the Web sites for NASCAR and the PGA Tour. It may soon join ESPN in somehow offering NBA games live online.

Diament will report to David Levy, who oversees all Turner sales efforts, and be based in New York. "I look forward to building upon my relationships with agencies and clients, as well as our league partners, to develop creative opportunities for Turner's leading portfolio of sports properties," Diament said.

Diament has been with Turner since 1990. In 2000, he became head of CNN's New York operations, and was promoted to his previous role at the network in 2004.

Turner said Frohman will work on special projects in her continuing role with the company.
