TiVo isn't averse to advertising; it's turning the TV remote into a "tool for buying products," reports
The New York Times. The company is introducing a "product purchase" feature in
partnership with Amazon.com. Owners of TiVo video recorders will see, in TiVo's various onscreen menus, links to buy CDs, DVDs and books that guests are promoting on talk shows, such as "Oprah" and
"The Daily Show."
