Versus Taps Sports Exec As Media Chief

Neal ScarboroughVersus, Comcast's sports network that offers the NHL and Tour de France, has signed the former editor of ESPN.com to head its new media operations. Neal Scarbrough, most recently of the Wasserman Media Group, joins as vice president of digital media. 

Scarbrough will be charged with overseeing the network's Web site from soup to nuts, with the second title of editor in chief of Versus.com. Developing mobile initiatives also falls under his watch.

At Wasserman Media Group's Sportnet unit, he headed a range of various start-up sites. Before that assignment, he served as editor at AOL Sports. At ESPN, he is credited with overseeing the launch of a video hub on its site.

Jamie Davis, Versus president, said: "As Versus continues to grow and evolve, Neal's strategic vision and extensive experience with some of the top sports Web sites in the country will help the network successfully navigate this ever-changing digital landscape and create a go-to destination."

Scarbrough has also worked for a range of major metro daily newspapers, including serving as sports editor of The Denver Post.
