In a bid to become the largest provider of search marketing services in Asia, Omnicom Media Group this morning unveiled a plan to dramatically expand OMG Search's market coverage on the continent. The
heart of the plan is based on a strategic alliance with dgm, the search and affiliate marketing unit of Asia's Deal Group Media, which will accelerate OMG Search's presence in several key Asian
markets.
The alliance combines OMG's OMD and PHD media services network brands with dgm's team to create integrated online marketing specialist organizations.
"This region is hugely
significant in the new media and digital area, which is why we are looking so closely at development across all of our disciplines in the digital space, starting with SEM," stated Barry Cupples, OMG
CEO for Asia Pacific.
The alliance estimated that search engine marketing services currently are worth more than $3 billion annually in the Asian marketplace, based on an online consumer
population of more than 600 million users in Asia and Australasia.
dgm CEO Fionn Hyndman said his organization already has more than 100 SEM specialists in place across the region.
Terms of
the deal were not disclosed.
