While there's been no shortage of downbeat projections for the coming holiday season for most retailers, online merchants are expecting a relatively solid holiday.
A new study from shop.org,
the online component of the National Retailing Federation, and Forrester Research says that 60% believe the U.S economy will improve within the next year, and 50% think their Web business "will
actually fare better than expected in the next 12 months."
Perhaps even more encouraging is that despite the challenges of the recession, 57% say they were profitable in 2008 than in 2007, even
though 53% lowered prices as a result of the economy. --Sarah Mahoney
