O'Brien Kicks Off National 'Prohibited' Tour

He's off the air, but still looking to keep his late-night face in front of consumers.

Conan O'Brien's "The Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour" will appear in 32 cities, starting in Eugene, Oregon, on April 12. American Express will be the presenting sponsor of the tour.

Other cities include Vancouver, Spokane, Seattle, San Francisco, New York, Boston, Chicago, Washington, D.C. and Las Vegas. It also includes a date at the Gibson Amphitheater at Universal City, Calif., near the site of his former "Tonight Show" home.

Television analysts say the former host of "Tonight Show" is probably headed to Fox -- with the earliest possible date of his return to late-night airwaves in September. But there may be some problems for Fox, as many affiliates may not want to part with their syndicated programming.

Another piece of O'Brien's overall marketing spin has been tweeting regularly on his new Twitter account, entries such as:

* "Hey Internet: I'm headed to your town on a half-assed comedy & music tour."

*"Hey gang! Look for me at the Oscars tonight. I'll be in the parking lot, wearing my prom tux and listening on the radio."

* "This morning I applied for a job at Home Depot, but they couldn't find an apron big enough to fit over my head. Tomorrow: Staples."

* "Today I interviewed a squirrel in my backyard and then threw to commercial. Somebody help me."
