LHJ Brings 'Marriage' To Game Show Net

Marriages are always compelling subject matter -- especially when they go awry. Thus, it's a logical partnership that brings together Ladies' Home Journal's "Can This Marriage Be Saved?" -- the oldest continuously published magazine column in American publishing -- and the Game Show Network's new version of "The Newlywed Game."

The Meredith Corp.'s flagship magazine will be featured in episodes of GSN's "The Newlywed Game" in May and June, with multiplatform integration of the LHJ column brand in the show and online. The partnership will also be promoted in the magazine and through original programming.

The "Marriage" column covers fidelity, past relationships, balancing careers, financial issues and communication, all of which will appear in the branded content integration. These topics will be addressed in a special question, during a branded moment in every episode of the show. GSN will promote LHJ throughout one week in May, with a magazine editor appearing as a featured guest on GSN Live, which gives at-home and online audiences daily opportunities to play games and win spectacular prizes.

Julie Pinkwater, the vice president and publisher of Ladies' Home Journal, stated: "This is all about bringing our marriage expertise and content to GSN's audience in entertaining ways. Anyone can connect with "Can This Marriage Be Saved?" because it's real people sharing real problems -- and we've all been there."

Parenting Brings Moms to Washington

Parenting is celebrating the success of its first "Mom Congress on Education and Learning," a summit that brings together children's advocates, educators, policy wonks and moms in the nation's capital. The summit included recognition of 51 mothers for their work advocating educational causes, one from each state as well as Washington, D.C. The moms spent two days meeting with leaders in the worlds of education and advocacy.

They shared a stage with U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan for a town hall on family engagement in education, and also heard from heads of the PTA, the National Education Association, the George Lucas Educational Foundation, and others. Finally, the attendees formulated Parenting's "Lesson Plan for Change," a guide that helps parents organize to improve schools, which will appear in the October issue of Parenting School Years.
