CW Shifts Hit Shows, Debuts 'Hellcats'

CW's

Like its sister network CBS, CW will hit the new season with more shows and a major shifting of its hit shows.

Monday night will now see "90210" moving to 8 p.m.-- from Tuesday at 8 p.m. -- to team up with "Gossip Girl." Tuesday puts two of its straight-ahead young-skewing dramas, CW's longtime show "One Tree Hill," and second-year show "Life Unexpected," both on new nights.

Wednesday will bring another season of "America's Next Top Model" and a new "Glee"-like drama, "Hellcats." It's about a young pre-law student who loses her scholarship and has to join the college's competitive cheerleading squad. Ashley Tisdale of "High School Musical" stars in the show.

Thursday will start off with "Vampire Diaries," its returning big new drama from a year ago, at 8 p.m. After that is new show "Nikita," an action drama about a spy and assassin for a top secret U.S. government agency who rebels against the system. It stars European actor Maggie Q, who has appeared in "Mission Impossible III."

Friday will see a move of former Thursday night shows "Smallville" and "Supernatural." The 10-year-old "Smallville" will have its final season in the 2010-2011 broadcast year.

For the summer, CW is starting up a less-"Extreme Makeover" reality effort. Each week in "Plain Jane," an ordinary woman will be transformed.

For midseason, CW is working on reality show "Shedding for The Wedding," a "Biggest Loser" meets a wedding, where 10 overweight engaged couples will live together and battle to get super-trim over a three-month period.
