Southwest Airlines is launching a Vacation Destination Giveaway through its frequent flyer program, Rapid Rewards. 

The eight-week promotion begins June 21 and runs through Aug. 15. Southwest loyalty club members will have a daily opportunity to answer Rapid Rewards trivia questions and play an instant-win game with prizes including Rapid Rewards credits and free roundtrip tickets.

Answering the trivia question correctly or not, players get an entry for the daily instant-win game. Those who answer the trivia question correctly get an additional entry for the daily instant-win game.

Consumers can register for the contest by visiting the microsite: southwest.com/vac8iondestin8ion. No purchase is necessary to enter. Southwest is promoting the contest on its website and via social media, including Facebook and Twitter.

Every week during the giveaway, Southwest will feature a different destination with info on where to go and what to see. The contest is aimed at educating Southwest flyers about the Rapid Rewards program and enticing them to sign up for it, says Ryan Green, Dallas-based Southwest's director of customer loyalty. "We will feature eight of our 69 destinations, and then give our members a chance to win a trip to go, see, and do," Green says.

Rapid Rewards members earn credits by flying or using the program's preferred partners. After eight roundtrips, or 16 credits, they qualify for an award ticket. Members can accelerate their earnings by using the Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards credit card from Chase, doing business with any of the airline's other preferred partners, or by purchasing Southwest's business select fares when flying.

Southwest Airlines allows members to transfer awards to anyone. The Rapid Rewards award is free, but travel is subject to the government-imposed Sept. 11 Security Fee of up to $10 per roundtrip.
