Within hours of the earthquake in Haiti, the airwaves were flooded and aid Web sites were springing up left and right. Employing a combination of celebrity PSA appeals-including Haitian celebrity Jimmy Jean-Louis, Rene (aka The Haitian) on NBC's hit series Heroes, and Rainn Wilson, Dwight on NBC's The Office - print ads, social media and radio promos, the Pan American Development Foundation was able to aid more than 300,000 people with the delivery of food, shelter, and medical care. Almost $6 million was raised in the days after the earthquake, $4 million of which were in-kind donations.
