Flipboard Inc. took Best in Show during MediaPost's first Appy Awards presentation in San Francisco Monday night for its app, which creates a magazine-style interface enabling iPad users to
personalize their content by tapping into social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and Google Reader. The app creates an interface allowing readers to quickly flip through the latest
stories, photos and updates from their social media connections without leaving or updating their social networks.
Not surprisingly, Flipboard also won the Social Networking category, one of 28
categories including Best in Show that were bestowed for the best applications developed for portable devices such as smart phones and tablet computers.
Flipboard was also a finalist in the News
category, which was won by Newsy for iPad app. Other category winners included:
