Budweiser, Live Nation, Haymon Sponsor Superfest

Budweiser, Live Nation Entertainment and Haymon Events are joining for the return of Budweiser Superfest featuring R&B soul singer Jill Scott.

The month-long, nationwide concert tour begins July 26 in Boston. Scott will be joined by R&B singer Anthony Hamilton and groove specialists Mint Condition with music provided by DJ Jazzy Jeff and hosted by Doug E. Fresh.

Budweiser is searching for local talent ages 21 and older in select Superfest cities to compete in its "Opening Act" competition, this year powered by MySpace Music. Winners will earn a chance to be the opening act for the Budweiser Superfest, show tickets and cash in select markets. Competitions will take place in the weeks prior to each concert. Consumers can enter at www.myspace.com/budweiseropeningactand also watch the video with advice from Darien, last year's contest winner, who is featured in Budweiser radio ads currently airing nationwide.

At the conclusion of the Budweiser Superfest tour, music fans can go to the MySpace website to view performances by the local winners to vote for their favorite. The 2011 "Opening Act" grand prize winner will receive $25,000.

As part of the sponsorship, Budweiser brewer Anheuser-Busch is donating $150,000 from its Foundation to UNCF (United Negro College Fund); presented as $10,000 scholarships in 15 of the 17 Superfest concert cities. The scholarships will be awarded to local students attending a UNCF school.

Budweiser Superfest is one of the most celebrated Soul and R&B concert series of all-time. The revived Budweiser Superfest launched in 2010 with an 18-city tour. During its more than two decade run - 1979 through 1999 - the original Budweiser Superfest featured musical legends, such as Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, TLC, Parliament and Luther Vandross.--Tanya Irwin
