[X+1] Adds Another, Modem Vet Massey Reunites With Nardone

Peter-Massey

Agency veteran Peter Massey has joined digital marketing platform provider [X+1] as president and COO, the shop confirmed today.

Massey replaces Stephano Kim, who left last year to become president of GraphEffect, a social ad management and analytics platform.

Asked whether expanding the company’s offerings or geographic footprint was part of the plan going forward, Massey said it was premature to discuss.

“That’s something that’s better answered after my first 100 days here,” Massey said, adding that he and CEO John Nardone would be developing a strategic plan soon.

The move reunites Massey with Nardone. The duo spent roughly a decade together, beginning in 1994 at Modem Media. There, they helped expand the startup digital agency into a global network with revenues of $200 million. The agency was eventually bought by Digitas, which was acquired by the Publicis Groupe.

After Modem, Massey held senior finance jobs at big holding company agencies, most recently completing a tour as CFO at WPP’s JWT New York. At the shop, he led a major transformation initiative that helped cut costs and boost profit margins. Earlier, Massey was North American CFO at JWT sister agency Ogilvy & Mather.

Massey did indicate a near term priority at [X+1] is expanding the customer base for the company’s Origin 3.0 product, the latest iteration of its data and media management platform.

“Technology is continuing to transform the way companies brand and sell and [x+1]’s digital marketing hub technology, and client solutions are right in the thick of this rapid market evolution,” he noted.
