LIN TV Acquires Digital Agency, Ups Station Group's Marketing Opportunities

Station group LIN TV has taken a majority position in digital agency HYFN as it looks to build its complementary mobile and online platforms. It’s the latest move in LIN’s efforts to diversify as it launched a mobile company and opened an office of its digital unit in Los Angeles.

HYFN is 12 years old with offices in L.A. and New York. Clients have included Nestle, Samsung and Ford. It offers a social media management system tabbed HYFN8, allowing brands to “manage their entire social presence in a consolidated dashboard.”

The agency is part of the Facebook Preferred Marketing Developer program. Morgan Harris, who founded the agency and serves as CEO, will continue in that role.

The deal is “part of our continued investment to build our digital media ecosystem in a strategic way that drives synergies and positions us as … (a) one-stop-shop for all marketing needs,” stated Vincent Sadusky, LIN CEO.

LIN operates a slew of TV stations and has a presence in 23 markets. It owns the CBS outlets in Portland, Providence and Birmingham. The Portland and Birmingham stations came via an acquisition from New Vision last year.
