CBS Expands 'Draft Show' On Second Screen

For its “Draft Show Live” kicking off tomorrow in connection with the 2013 NFL draft, CBS is prepping a full second-screen experience including social and interactive elements along with extensive news and commentary.

 

Sponsored by Cadillac, CBSSports.com’s draft coverage will offer two ways to follow the action. One set of analysts will provide insights and opinions about the draft, including pick-by-pick announcement and trade updates, while a second team will monitor social buzz from Twitter and Facebook, as well as instant polls and direct interaction with fans.

 

 

On the mobile side, the CBS Sports app for the iPhone and Android devices will feature mock drafts, profiles of college prospects, Combine stats and an enhanced live draft tracker with round-by-round picks. App users will also be able to watch streaming coverage of the Draft Live Show, which airs starting at 8 pm on Thursday, 6:30 pm on Friday, and 12 pm on Saturday.

 

CBS’s second-screen offering for the Super Bowl this year drew 3 million viewers, its largest ever audience for a single sporting event streamed live. A big part of that effort was the offering of multiple camera angles, including a “fan’s choice” camera that let viewers control what they wanted to see shown on TV. That approach might not work quite as well, though, for a broadcast focused on a group of analysts sitting
