Rookie TV Shows Score: 'Carrie,' 'Hannibal' Devour Rivals

The-Carrie-Diaries-AGoing into next season, some TV networks' rookie crop of shows have scored steadily rising social media numbers -- especially those younger-skewing shows.

CW has seen rising gains from most of its new shows. "The Carrie Diaries" is now at a 5.5 score through May 12 -- up 29%, according to social media researcher General Sentiment, up 28.5%. Research was tallied from data from Twitter, Facebook and news media sites.

Of the new shows that have not been cancelled, "Diaries" was the second-highest earner next to NBC's "Hannibal," which grabbed a 6.0 number, down 1.4% from the week before. The fate of "Hannibal" for next season is still undecided.

Of the new shows that will return next year, the CW posted the next-best result with "Beauty & The Beast," getting a 4.7 number, slightly down 0.8%. "Arrow," another high-scoring CW show, posted a 3.8 number -- up 13.9%.

Fox's "The Mindy Project" was placed fourth -- with a 5.4 number, up 4.3% from the week before.

More older-skewing shows also made decent social media gains. NBC's "Chicago Fire" was just behind "Diaries" at a 5.4 number, up 17%. CBS' "Elementary" had a 4.7 score -- up 15%, good for sixth place of the shows that haven't been cancelled.

Two of the best Nielsen-rated new shows this season could be found at the back of the pack as the 2012-2013 broadcast season nears its end: NBC's "Revolution" was at 3.0 up 1% and Fox's "The Following" was down 18% to a 1.6 number.
