Zoom Names Link Senior EVP, Sales/Marketing

Tom Link has been named senior executive vice president for sales and marketing at Zoom Media & Marketing, the digital place-based advertising network announced Wednesday. Based in Zoom’s New York office, Link will lead all the company’s U.S. sales, marketing and research initiatives.

Link previously served as vice president of Life Time Fitness Media, a role he assumed in 2002. At Life Time, he led strategic development efforts that resulted in major revenue growth and also spearheaded the creation of several new media platforms. Most recently, he oversaw Life Time’s launch of the College Network and Healthy Lifestyle Media Network in July 2012, not to mention a general market strategy for the fitness chain’s branded publication, Experience Life magazine.

Zoom CEO François de Gaspé Beaubien boasted: “If there’s one person in the United States who is the expert in fitness media, it’s Tom Link.” For his part, Link praised Zoom’s integrated media platform, content, and experiential marketing and sampling initiatives, as well as the company’s social media strategy.

Link’s appointment is just the latest in a series of strategic moves from Zoom.

In March, Zoom Media unveiled a partnership with NetPulse, which provides the software that runs most cardio fitness machines, to deliver advertising and content to digital displays on equipment in health clubs in Zoom’s ClubCom network of over 4,000 venues, as well as NetPulse’s associated Web and mobile channels.

And in January, Zoom Media & Marketing announced a new deal making it the exclusive long-term media and advertising partner for Town Sports International, which owns and operates 157 health clubs in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic regions. The deal covers media and promotional assets including static billboards, digital signage, television programming, overhead sound and product sampling.
