Comedy Central is tearing down the wall between its digital and linear operations, the Viacom property announced today. David Bernath, EVP Programming and Multiplatform Strategy, now leads programming across the brand. Walter Levitt, chief marketing officer, is now presiding over marketing on all platforms.
These changes follow the earlier promotion of Kent Alterman to President, Content Development & Original Programming. Alterman maintains oversight of all content development for Comedy Central.
The idea of integrating programming over various platforms was already sampled when Comedy Central launched “Drunk History” before its linear premiere on cable TV, where it became the most successful summer show launch in three years.
