McCann Poaches CP+B's Reilly For Top Creative Role

McCann Worldgroup raided Crispin Porter + Bogusky to tap Rob Reilly as Global Creative Chairman, the Interpublic agency confirmed Monday.

At the same time McCann said that two top creative executives, Linus Karlsson and Andreas Dahlqvist would now lead Commonwealth, the unit that was created in 2012 to manage the global Chevrolet account. Karlsson and Dahlqvist respectively had been Chief Creative Officer and Deputy Chief Creative Officer, Global Brands, McCann Erickson.

Word of the creative executive shifts follows the agency’s move last month placing Luca Lindner in the number two spot at the agency network as President, McCann Worldgroup.  That promotion came after the departure last month of Gustavo Martinez for WPP’s JWT, where he is slated to become global CEO of the agency in 2015.

At Crispin, which he joined in 2002, Reilly had most recently served as Partner/Worldwide Chief Creative Officer. In his new role, Reilly will be responsible for creative oversight of the McCann brand globally as well as for developing multiplatform strategic approaches for clients.

McCann Worldgroup CEO Harris Diamond said that Reilly “understands how to navigate today’s attention-challenged, media-fragmented consumer world by developing and extending creativity that has the sharpest strategic intent across any and all platforms, cultures, and geographies.”

At Commonwealth, Karlsson will assume the role of Creative Chairman. McCann also said Karlsson was at work on a new venture to be unveiled in the spring of 2014.

Dahlqvist has been named Chief Creative Officer of Commonwealth and President of the McCann Creative Leadership Council. In the latter role, Dahlqvist, in conjunction with Reilly, will be responsible for “inspiring creative excellence throughout the network,” McCann said.
