NBC Shows Tops Among Broadcast Networks' Viewers

There are about two months of the broadcast season remaining, and NBC -- with a major ratings boost from the Sochi Winter Olympics -- continues to post top key viewing results.

Through Sunday, March 16, for the 2013-2014 year, NBC is averaging a 3.0 rating among 18-49 viewers, largely as a result of Nielsen’s live prime-time program plus seven days of time-shifting. NBC’s results are up 20% from the same time period a year ago.

Fox is in second place, with a 2.7 rating among 18-49 viewers -- a 4% gain from last season. CBS is next at a 2.4 rating, down 20% from last season. CBS aired the Super Bowl in February 2013, part of the 2012-2013 season.

ABC is in fourth place, with a 2.1 average rating among 18-49 viewers, down 9% from a year ago. Univision is next at 1.2, losing 20%, while the CW is at a 0.8 18-49 rating -- a 14% improvement from last season.

Longtime total broadcast viewer leader CBS maintains its top ranking, at 10.8 million season-to-date. NBC is second with 10.1 million, followed by Fox at 8.0 million; ABC, 7.4 million; Univision with 3.1 million; and CW with 1.9 million.

TV ratings results for 23 of the 25 weeks are from Nielsen live-plus-seven-day time-shifted data, with the two most recent weeks coming from live-plus-same-day results.
