Brands Take To Google+ Combining Live Chat, Ecommerce

Diane von Furstenberg introduced a shopping Google+ Hangout last year where consumers can make an ecommerce purchase from the social site. The designer worked with Google to find a way to engage with consumers and allow them to purchase the products they see in the Hangout. Think Home Shopping Network only online. Last October, consumers joining the DVF Hangout had the opportunity to browse the items shown online, and in just a few clicks purchase any of the presented items. The live chat feature in Google+ lets brands answer questions as consumers seek answers before they click to purchase. Econsultancy provides other examples, too.
