Volkswagen of
America, Inc. is touting the 2015 Golf GTI performance variant via a partnership with video-camera GoPro and Tanner Foust, a well-known stunt and rally driver and Top Gear host.
Volkswagen
said the effort, from Deutsch LA and directed by Jason Zada of Tool, centers on a long-form video, “Turbocharge the
Everyday,” featuring the factory-tuned five-door, with footage provided by several GoPro cameras attached to the car.
The marketing tie-in with GoPro involves a giveaway of a GoPro
HERO3+ Black Edition plus mount to customers who purchase or lease the all-new 2015 Golf GTI by June 30.
“It was a fantastic bonus that Tanner Foust, who is one of our drivers for
the Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross team, was behind the wheel during the shoot,” says Vinay Shahani, VP marketing at Herndon, Va.-based Volkswagen of America, in a release.

The effort
also involves a partnership with “Motor Trend” for a series of videos starring professional drivers and auto influencers, per the U.S.-based marketing arm of VW. The series includes
behind-the-scenes footage.
The videos, shot at sites like the Redwood Forest, Santa Monica Beach and downtown Los Angeles, will roll out starting June 4, with the rest being released online
throughout the month of June. “Turbocharge the Everyday” starts June 2.
The Golf GTI video campaign will be supported across the Volkswagen, “MotorTrend” and GoPro
social media channels, as well as through paid digital support.
