Haven Returns To iCrossing As Chief Strategy Officer

Former iCrossing executive Brian Haven has returned to the digital agency as its new chief strategy officer. In that capacity, he oversees the agency’s corporate strategy as well as its strategy practice, which includes planning, research, social media and community management offerings.

Based in San Francisco, he will report directly to Brian Powley, global president of iCrossing.
Haven is no stranger to the agency, having served as vice president of strategy from 2009 to 2012, consulting for a range of clients, including Adobe, Best Buy, Fidelity, Honda and Hilton. In the interim, his career took a more entrepreneurial turn. He co-founded Zetitit, maker of social media and content analysis software, and Spendship, a mobile affiliate and loyalty platform. The latter was sold to social rich media firm Moontoast in May.
Powley called Haven a “big thinker,” whose recent startup experience would complement his background in advising big brands on strategy.

“Whilst we’re a much bigger company, I like to think of us as nimble and growing,” he said. In that regard, part of Haven’s job will be to help iCrossing, a unit of Hearst Corp. further expand its presence outside the U.S. in key regions, such as Asia.
Haven succeeds Adam Lavelle, who left the agency two months ago after eight years, serving most recently as chief strategy officer. Powley said Lavelle had played an instrumental part in helping iCrossing transition from a search agency to a full-service digital shop with some 900 employees.
Prior to joining iCrossing initially in 2009, Haven had worked as an analyst at Forrester, focusing on social media, emerging technologies and digital agencies
