Clearstream Acquires EngageHD, Appoints Bennett As CTO

Clearstream, a video ad targeting platform that uses real-time bidding (RTB), on Thursday announced it has acquired EngageHD, a mobile ad targeting platform. Follow the acquisition, Clearstream has named Dominic Bennett, co-founder of EngageHD and former SVP of engineering at Turn, as its chief technology officer.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Clearstream already had a mobile offering -- a company representative told Real-Time Daily that over 50% of its current business is mobile video -- but the company acquired EngageHD because it believes the mobile video side of its business will continue to grow.

“Our core philosophy is not to create ‘me too’ technology and solutions,” the rep said. It’s about having a specific point of view about technology and audience insight.”  In addition to its mobile ad targeting, EngageHD also offers data mining and ad delivery tech.

“The proliferation of mobile devices, the uniqueness of the technology and the 'high-tech' nature of mobile represents an opportunity to create a superior technology solution that is a win win win for advertisers, publishers and users,” Bennett said to Real-Time Daily.

Bennett added that first on his list of duties is overseeing the integration of EngageHD’s tech into Clearstream’s stack.
