In a
letter to Yahoo employees, CEO Marissa Mayer named Prashant Fuloria to oversee all ad products for the company, and combine offerings from Gemini and BrightRoll.
Fuloria, a veteran Internet
product manager, joined Yahoo last year after the Internet portal acquired mobile-ad and analytics startup Flurry.
"Yahoo has appointed Prashant Fuloria as senior vice president,
Advertising Products, overseeing the development and integration of our advertising products in display, native, video, and mobile including Yahoo Ad Manager Plus, Yahoo Gemini, and BrightRoll," a
Yahoo spokesperson told Search Marketing Daily. "Prashant brings more than a decade of experience building advertising platforms at Google, Facebook and most recently, Flurry, to
Yahoo. With Prashant leading the team, we will continue to streamline and integrate our growing advertising technology capabilities in a way that brings the greatest value to
advertisers."
As part of his charter, Fuloria will bring together into one unit Yahoo's ad offerings such as the mobile native ad service and the BrightRoll video ad service. The
Wall Street Journal reports that both units will report to him, and he will report to Mayer.
Mayer and Fuloria both worked at Google between 2003 and 2009. He managed Google's products
for the Asia-Pacific region and built the company's global payment platform as well as payment features for AdWords and AdSense, and facilitated the company's transition from Premium Sponsorships to
AdWords by building key AdWords order entry and billing capabilities.
