High on
the list of upscale TV shows -- and in theory, hard to come by TV viewers this season -- are two broadcast network comedies: ABC’s “Modern Family” and CBS’ “Big Bang
Theory.”
Looking at the Nielsen rating data for those entertainment non-sports series among 18-49 viewers with income of $100,000+ a year is “Modern Family,” posting a 7.78 18-49
program rating for the season so far, September 22 through February 8.
Right behind is CBS’ “Big Bang Theory” at a 7.04.
Overall, ABC leads all broadcast networks in
this category with a 2.6 rating average. NBC is at 2.42 rating, followed by CBS at a 2.40; and Fox, 1.71 rating. These results do not include in higher-rated sports fare, such as NBC’s
“Sunday Night Football” and CBS’ “Thursday Night Football”
NBC’s best was “The Blacklist” at a 6.95 rating, which also was the top upscale
income drama. Fox’s “American Idol”’ Wednesday edition earned a 4.15 rating. NBC’s “The Voice” posted the best results for a reality show with a 4.57
rating.
Of the top two 20 shows, ABC had nine shows and NBC and Fox each had four, while CBS had three.
