Publicis Ups Its Content Marketing Game With News Agency Purchase

On Monday, Publicis said it is in talks to buy press agency Relaxnews for 15 million euros ($17 million). The two hope to reach a deal by April.

Publicis said the offer corresponded to 9.58 euros per share, representing a premium of 63 percent over Relaxnews' closing price of 5.86 euros on Monday.

Of the move, Sebastien Danet, global managing partner of Publicis agency ZenithOptimedia said: "Bringing Relaxnews into the Groupe would allow us to combine our leadership in digital with their unmatched expertise in today's content revolution. The synergies between these two pillars will transform media platforms for the benefit of our clients."

Through a partnership with French news agency Agence France-Presse, Relaxnews provides leisure news and content for media, brands, e-commerce Web sites and blogs.
