Chris Hayes Joins Code and Theory As Global CMO

Independent creative shop Code and Theory, has named Chris Hayes Partner and Global Chief Marketing Officer.

Hayes has two decades of experience in developing digital and integrated marketing solutions for brands. He comes to Code and Theory from Critical Mass, where he served as CMO. Earlier he led new business and marketing initiatives for agencies like Huge, Young & Rubicam, and Euro RSCG 4D, the digital arm of Havas’ Euro RSCG.

“Chris will play a critical role in our plan to grow and scale the company on a global level,” said Code and Theory co-founder Brandon Ralph. “He has an incredible track record in building businesses in the U.S. and abroad.”   

“I’m an entrepreneur at heart, so it’s exciting to have the opportunity to play a role in continuing to grow” Code and Theory, said Hayes.

Hayes is the most recent addition in a series of new senior-level hires, including Ross Maupin, who joined the agency in November as Group Creative Director. Maupin was the former Creative Director at Victoria's Secret PINK. In January, the agency hired John Long as Group Creative Director. Previously he was with Huge.

Code and Theory currently has a global headcount of 300-plus people working across its offices in New York City, San Francisco, London, and Manila.

Hayes will work out of Code and Theory’s New York City headquarters in SoHo.
