YouTube Funds 4 Stars To Create Original Content

Google's YouTube is funding four content creators that the company believes have the potential to boost their careers and the future of original content.

The move follows the launch of Creator Hub and YouTube Spaces in the U.S., U.K., Japan, and Brazil.

On Tuesday, the company announced partnerships with the four creators to help bring their next big original series to life on YouTube.

Alex Carloss announced the funding deals in a blog post, but did not disclose what the company plans to invest in the productions.

The four YouTube celebrities include the Fine Brothers, Prank Vs. Prank, Joey Graceffa, and Smosh. YouTube celebs like the Fine Brothers have become a constant talent during the past few years, with YouTube channels that have more than 17 million subscribers.

In 2014, at the annual VidCon conference in Anaheim, Calif., siblings Benny and Rafi Fine announced a deal with Nickelodeon to produce the first season of a television show. Since then, they have been working on a scripted comedy series that satirizes TV singing competition shows, produced in partnership with Mandeville Films.

Prank vs. Prank, with nearly 14 million subscribers, will launch a new series of pranks featuring celebrity guests with hosts Jesse and Jeana.

YouTube Also announces a partnership with AwesomenessTV to release several feature length films during the next two years, all driven by YouTube stars and developed and produced by Brian Robbins. The films will premiere globally on YouTube before they become available elsewhere.
