NBC Leads In Key Ratings, 'Sunday Night Football' Still Tops

Two weeks into the TV season, NBC is continuing where it left off -- in first place among key viewers -- while virtually all TV networks are showing lower traditional TV viewing versus a year ago.

NBC is at a Nielsen 2.7 rating/9 share among 18-49 viewers (3.4 million), blending the live program-plus-same day metric (for the most recent data) and live program-plus-seven days of time-shifted data. 

CBS is next at with a 2.3/8 (2.9 million), followed by ABC at 1.7/6 (2.21 million); Fox with 1.7/6 (2.18 million), Univision at 0.8/3 (1 million); Telemundo with 0.6/2 (720,000); and the CW at 0.3 (410,000).

CBS leads in total viewers with 10.6 million, followed by NBC at 9.1 million; ABC with 6.8 million; Fox at 4.8 million; Univision with 2.2 million; Telemundo at 1.4 million; and CW with 1.03 million.

The top-viewed prime-time TV shows for the most recent week ending October 4 are: NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” at 24.18 million; CBS’ “Thursday Night Football” with 19.44 million; CBS’ “NCIS” at 16.53 million; CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory” with 15.23 million; and Fox’s “Empire” at 13.74 million.

The top 18-49 shows are NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” with a 8.7 rating; CBS’ “Thursday Night Football” with a 6.9; NBC’s “Sunday Night NFL Pre-Kick” with a 6.2; Fox’s “Empire” with a 5.5, and Fox’s “The OT” with a 4.9.
