Maurice Levy, Martin Sorrell Land Spots On Harvard Business Review's Best-Performing CEO List

Harvard Business Review, which annually publishes a ranking of the best-performing CEOs named Maurice Levy and Martin Sorrell to the list. Levy landed at number 39 and Sorrell landed at number 5, the highest-ranked agency executive on the list.

The list focuses on overall financial performance, but also "the mix a measurement of each company’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance." Financials are weighted at 80% while ESG (introduced this year) is weighed at 20%.

Of the increased focus on a corporation's social endeavors, HBR wrote: "Our view is that, in an era of big data and greater transparency, consumers and investors increasingly want to understand a company’s culture and values. They want to analyze its social behavior, not just its share price. These new measurements will only get better over time."

Omnicom CEO John Wren made the list last year at number 50 but did not appear on this year's list, seemingly due to the change is the way HBR ranks performance.
