DigitasLBi Detroit Helps Flint Water Crisis Recovery Effort

DigitasLBi has participated in many humanitarian efforts, including recognizing National Wear Red Day on February 5th, in which offices across North America encouraged their employees to wear red to raise awareness around heart health and in support of those battling heart disease. And DigitasLBi San Francisco partnered with organizers of the 3% Conference to host one of three live in-person tweetup events during Super Bowl 50 on February 7.

Now, DIgitasLBi is embarking on one of its biggest missions in order to help Flint, MI and prevent the Flint water crisis from happening again.

The project was conceived after DigitasLBi Detroit art directors sent a call-to-action to the agency's creative team to band together and figure out how DigitasLBi Detroit could use its expertise to form a strategy to tackle clean water solutions.

From there, the office’s HR team met to determine how the agency could further support Flint immediately. Thus 50 employees are partnering with local Flint, MI Red Cross to volunteer on Friday, February 12 to bring aid and contributions. Between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., they will deliver water, filters, replacement cartridges, testing kits, and other supplies to Flint residents.

In addition to donating their time, DigitasLBi Detroit is also giving $2,000 to the United Way of Genesee County, a nonprofit organization that disburses funds for patriotic, war, charitable, philanthropic, and benevolent purposes. These funds donated by DigitasLBi will go directly to the Flint recovery efforts.

“Not only does the Flint water crisis affect the residents, it affects the community as a whole, and DigitasLBi Detroit is doing everything we can to help in the effort. Every little bit counts,” says Robert Guay, EVP, managing director, DigitasLBi Boston & Detroit.

The office is embarking on these efforts in lieu of a social gathering for Valentine’s Day, and putting their “Hearts in Action” as a show of support.
