Saatchi NY Seeks Voice Surrogates

It's a unique challenge for those unable to talk, whether it's from cerebral palsy, stroke or other ailments. These sufferers are forced to communicate with a robotic-like voice, a la Stephen Hawking.

Now VocaliD is pioneering the customization of digital voices for people with speech impairments. But first, they need voices. So the company is working with Saatchi & Saatchi NY to create a new marketing campaign that will drive awareness and encourage people to share their voice.

The campaign's message is promoted via an interactive and animated voice-activated film that tells the story of Goldivox, a girl with the inability to speak on her own. The clip shows her traveling the world on a journey looking for a unique voice that fits her. The interactive film can be viewed on Google Chrome and Android devices .

This campaign is aimed at everyone. The Human Voicebank platform needs people of all ages, genders, and nationalities to help create a variety of vocal identities, says VocaliD.

“This was a very unique challenge that demanded a unique solution," says Jay Benjamin, chief creative officer, Saatchi & Saatchi NY. "We hope this interactive storytelling experience will help people feel how powerful their own voice can be, and that they will be compelled to donate their voice through VocaliD or even spread the message to others who might donate theirs.”

Founded in 2014 by speech scientist, Rupal Patel, VocaliD is the first company to build unique digital voices for those unable to speak without computer assistance.
