MediaCom Appoints Its First Chief Strategy Officer For The Americas

WPP’s MediaCom has appointed Jon Gittings as Chief Strategy Officer for the Americas, a new role at the agency.

Previously, Gittings was Global Business Development Strategy Officer. He is credited with managing pitches and other efforts that have contributed $3 billion in new business billings since joining the agency in 2014, including assignments from AB InBev, Coca-Cola, Mars and Sony.

Now, he will oversee MediaCom’s strategy for existing and prospective clients across both North and Latin America.

Prior to Gittings’ appointment, strategy roles were handled primarily at the country level, said Stephanie Fierman, Chief Marketing Officer at MediaCom.

“As the world becomes smaller and smaller – and we seek to grow larger and larger relationships across physical borders – we saw an opportunity to leverage Jon’s skill set to align our teams and systems at a higher level,” she added.

Gittings is tasked with developing new strategy initiatives, tools and processes. He will also work alongside local leadership teams to identify and recruit strategic talent. He’ll continue to be based in New York reporting to Toby Jenner, MediaCom’s Worldwide COO, and Matthew Mee, Global Chief Strategy Officer.

Jenner cited Gittings’ “phenomenal contribution to the network’s success over the past two years.”
