'The Players Tribune' Teams With Tyson Foods For Content Partnership

The Players’ Tribune announced a new integrated content partnership with Tyson Foods, featuring branded essays, a video series and photo galleries starring legendary athletes.

Tyson Foods is supporting the effort with a shopper marketing digital content experience, “Legends at the Grill,” located on a Tyson Foods microsite.

Legends at the Grill will allow consumers to experience grilling with an athlete and access new content about their favorite players, stated Wendyjean Bennett, director of shopper marketing at Tyson Foods.

The content experience features grilling tips, trending recipes and new ways to use Tyson products.

The Players’ Tribune was started by Major League Baseball player Derek Jeter and publishes stories from professional athletes.

“With all of our brand partnerships, we look to create customized programming that is authentic and aligns with the interests and priorities for both brands,” Messler told Publishers Daily. “With this partnership, we are able to help amplify their Legends of the Grill campaign by connecting them to athletes through authentic, compelling multimedia content.”

The media company will also debut a new video series called “Field Notes” as part of the partnership with Tyson Foods.

In the series, athletes Ken Griffey Jr., Brandi Chastain, Johnny Bench and Cal Ripken Jr. will share the “unique sights and sounds of their favorite sport,” per a statement. Each athlete’s narration will detail the “sensory aspects of the game, while fans see and hear them in cinematic detail.”

The athletes will also contribute to Tyson Foods co-branded written features for the popular editorial series, “Best Play I Ever Made,” where athletes break down signature career moments from their own point of view.
