Facebook Joins Station F As Launch Partner

Supporting industry upstarts, Facebook just signed on as a Station F launch partner.

Based in Paris, Station F is shaping up to be the world’s biggest startup campus. Although the massive physical space remains under construction, it should eventually accommodate some 3,000 entrepreneurs.

As one of four launch partners, Facebook will be launching Station F’s first startup program known as “Startup Garage from Facebook.”

The six-month program is designed for 10-to-15 startups dedicated to data, which will ultimately take up an 80-desks zone on the campus.

“These startups and the rest of the entire Station F campus will be able to benefit from Facebook’s experts and experience in a variety of fields, including marketing, technical development, UX/UI, and more,” the founders note in a new blog post.

“While Facebook already is a huge supporter of entrepreneurship around the world — with initiatives like F8 of FBStart — this is the first time Facebook is investing into a physical space,” it mentions.

Some of the first startups Facebook has announced for its program include Mapstr, a tool to bookmark one’s favorite places, and Chekk, a tool that helps people manage their digital identity.

Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg made the announcement, on Tuesday. “Some of you already knew Facebook would be involved at Station F,” according to the founders.

Indeed, Station F’s founders actually broke the news at the last TechCrunch Disrupt.
