Viacom Starts New Advanced Ad Unit

Following up on its recent advertising industry Open AP consortium partnership with Fox and Turner, Viacom is kicking off a formalized advanced advertising group.

Veteran Viacom ad executive Bryson Gordon will head up the new group as EVP, advanced advertising.

Open AP is an open platform for cross-publisher audience targeting and independent measurement. One of the main objectives is identifying new audience targets. Gordon has been a key executive in the group since it started a few weeks ago.

Viacom’s Advanced Advertising group will partner with clients to create multiplatform audience targeting solutions and “platform-native advertising that captures attention, engages audiences and drives impact for brands.”

Gordon will report to Sean Moran, head of marketing/partner solutions of Viacom, and Kern Schireson, chief data officer of Viacom.

Previously, Gordon's Viacom responsibilities were heading up data strategy under Schireson and in 2015 launching Viacom Vantage, a data-driven ad product for advertisers to reach custom targets at the program level across the company's networks.

Before Viacom, Gordon spent 11 years at Microsoft, in a number of senior-level marketing positions. Before Microsoft, he worked in computer security at security software company McAfee.
