YouTube TV Is Presenting Sponsor Of World Series

Looking to boost its marketing awareness, YouTube TV -- the new digital live TV network service -- has struck a deal to be the first presenting sponsor of Major League Baseball’s World Series.

YouTube TV will be the main World Series sponsor, with regular TV commercials during the event as well as digital exposure on MLB.com sites and in-stadium promotion.

The World Series is scheduled to begin October 24, after baseball division and league playoff series are completed.

YouTube TV, which launched in April, is available in two-thirds of TV U.S. households, 49 of the country’s top 50 markets.

For its part, Major League Baseball says the YouTube free video platform has generated over 1 billion views this year -- in terms of its engagement and content strategy. YouTube claims 1.5 billion monthly users.

The YouTube TV service costs $35 per month and includes around 50 networks -- broadcast and cable groups. This also includes live local feeds from ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC in most markets -- plus cable networks ESPN, AMC and FX, and local sports networks from NBC Sports and Fox Sports.

In addition to YouTube TV, deals for presenting sponsorships were made with Camping World for the American League and National League Championship Series. T-Mobile has a sponsorship for the NL Division Series match-ups. South Korea’s Doosan, an infrastructure support business (ISB) provider, is the presenting sponsor of the AL Division Series.
