IBM iX Adds First Experience Officer

IBM iX has appointed Kelly Mooney as its first Chief Experience Officer. The division is the second-largest digital agency network globally, totaling 15,000 people across 35 locations.

Mooney joined the IBM family in 2016, when the company acquired her digital agency Resource/Ammirati, where she served as CEO. Over the past 18 months, she has played a key role in the integration of Resource/Ammirati with IBM iX Studios in North America, including the newly opened location in Washington D.C.

"Last year, we began to rethink the brand, the value proposition and relaunched at Cannes this summer," says John Armstrong, North America leader, digital strategy and IBM iX. "As part of that strategy, we conceived a new role that we intend to have in every geography around the world."

In her new role, Mooney will lead the iX North America strategy, creative and design crafts/disciplines, as well as serve as a liaison to other key IBM innovation efforts and divisions.

Her job is to "address the evolving and increasingly complex needs of the CMO, as they are charged with driving both growth and change across the enterprise," says Armstrong. "IBM iX is a new breed of client partner: an agency that consults, a consultancy that makes, and a technology partner that both imagines and implements."

Mooney will continue to co-lead the IBM iX North America Studios with Scott Lieberman, vice president, partner, North American Leader of IBM iX, and report to Armstrong.

In addition, Mooney will take a larger role in driving thought leadership initiatives on behalf of IBM iX, including the unveiling of a new consumer research study in the coming weeks that explores the evolving experience of belonging and what it means for brands and businesses.
