Voice control is moving into the ceilings of homes.
GE is
expanding its lighting portfolio to include voice control into its smart home lighting.
New lighting products are being added to GE’s C by GE line.
Smart ceiling fixtures will be
voice-enabled fixtures that can be used for listening to music, completing voice-driven tasks or changing light needs or tasks in a room, all by voice, according to GE.
The fixtures do not
require a separate voice device, such as Amazon Alexa or Google Home, since they are built into the fixtures.
GE also in introducing a smart wall switch, which is also voice compatible, so
connected lights can be controlled by speaking with a person’s favorite voice assistant with no GE hub required.
The system also can be used to dim any non-connected bulbs a homeowner
has, without the need for a separate dimmer system.
GE’s Sol Lamp, believed to be the first lighting product to integrate Amazon Alexa inside, is being updated to allow turning on
Spotify and SiriusXM connectivity and includes Amazon’s Echo Spatial Perception feature, allowing syncing with other Alexa devices in the home.
