Some smart homes are getting set for the Super Bowl.
Through its newly launched voice remote, Comcast Xfinity is pushing new features to align with the big game.
For example, the
remote now can accept voice commands such as:
- ‘Xfinity Home, make lights green’ (for Philly fans)
- ‘Xfinity Home, make lights blue’ (for Patriots
fans)
- ‘Xfinity Home, show me the front door camera’ (to check for the pizza delivery)
The new features allow consumers to get specific about which smart camera
they want to see as well as use the voice remote to make a room brighter or dim lights, if they have the Philips Hue connected lighting system.
Voice commands also are being made more
practical, so that telling it ‘I’m cold’ will automatically turn up the thermostat a degree or two.
The remote is integrated with the TV, so that the answer to a question
asked via the remote will appear on the TV screen.
The voice remote works with other smart home devices, such as the Nest and Zen thermostats, Lutron Lights, GE in-wall and plug-in switches
and dimmers, Philips Hue lights and the Sengled Element Touch light bulb.
