Amazon Moves Into Selling Home Security Services

In addition to selling security products, Amazon is becoming a smart home security services provider.

The online retailer has started offering five smart security packages, including in-home visits by Amazon technicians for consultation, with installation on the second visit.

The most expensive package costs $840 and includes a video doorbell, entryway sensors connected to a siren, radio and intermittent dog barking sounds through Alexa, camera, smoke and water sensors, an Echo Dot, outdoor smart lighting and installation.

The least expensive package, at $240, includes an Echo Dot, indoor and outdoor smart lighting to create the impression someone is home. Installation is also included.

Amazon recently acquired the smart home security company Ring, maker of a video doorbell. Following the acquisition, Amazon cut the price by almost half, to under $100.

“This is just the beginning,” stated Dave Limp, senior vice president of Amazon Devices, just after the acquisition closed earlier this month. “We will continue to move quickly and work hard to empower customers with a suite of security solutions that provide an affordable, effective way to secure homes and neighborhoods.”

HMMMMMM.........after you give these sites every last piece of persoanl data and finances,
Now we should pay them to protect it and the home that is connected to various phone, websites, apps , automobiles and hackers?   BUT, as always , there will be tens of thousands who think because it's   Google/Amazon, it must be good.
Yeah, that barking dog through a plastic box speaker will ward off those pesky intruders.

Maybe, Mark, the speaker setup likely would include a sub-woofer.
