Virtual reality has been deployed for games, education, research and now for bear safety training.

To stay safe in bear country, VR Safety Training has launched a VR training course including the basics of bear safety to using bear defense equipment.

The VR experience “engages the user by initiating critical decision making in conjunction with physical movements to create muscle memory,” according to the company’s announcement of the VR course.

“We combine our Standard Bear Awareness and Safety Training Course with our VR Bear Safety Training Program to give added value in presenting learners with a situation they cannot otherwise experience safely, and better prepares them to deal with it,” the company states.

The interactive VR training simulates an actual bear encounter while wearing a VR headset.
