The roadmap for the majority of retailers includes advanced technology shopping options such as self-checkout, automatic contactless checkout, mobile payment and easy guest checkout, according to a new retail study by Oracle.
Most (54%) retailers said the new checkout options are either planned or in use today.
The global study comprised a survey of 260 retail professionals, with more than half from companies with greater than $500 million in sales with the tittle of director and above.
Nearly half (45%) of retailers empower employees with mobile capabilities so they can perform their jobs regardless of where they are and 46% say they are well-positioned logistically to support an omnichannel shopping experience.
More than half (60%) of retailers say their company is embracing digital and mobile but not investing quickly enough to keep pace with the speed of technology change or consumer expectations. Fewer than a quarter (17%) feel they are leading the market with digital and mobile initiatives.
The majority (60%) of retailers say their company will likely face disruption from more innovative, nimble, customer-centric organizations or service providers.
