Hearables Device Growth Driven By Multimedia

More than 200 million hearables or ear-based wearables will be shipping annually by 2022, according to a new forecast by Juniper Research.

The category will be led primarily be an expanding multimedia hearables category. Multimedia hearables include Apple AirPods, Bose QuietComfort 35 and Google Pixel Buds.

Juniper defines a hearable as “an ear-mounted device that supplies aural content or information to the wearer, that is either generated by computations and data on the device itself or by an attached app.”

“However, the technology is not yet a ‘must-have’ for consumers and not cheap enough to encourage impulse buying beyond early adopters,” states the report.

By 2023, there will be 441 million wireless headphones in use along with 423 million hearables, according to the forecast.

All wireless audio devices use Bluetooth to connect to a parent device.

which translates to;  "For the first time pedestrian deaths on the sidewalks  will surpass those who die inside a  accident."   Because at any given time , a  crowd of people will look like a scene from the Walking Dead.  No clue of where they are walking or why.

So that makes them less distracting for the user.   You can't walk down a street now without dodging folks glued to the screen and ear buds.
