'Mr. Tic Tac' Urges Folks To Open Up

At a time when it’s become tough to unglue our eyes from our phone screens long enough to interact with other humans, Tic Tac is introducing a brand character whose mission in life is getting people to do just that.

In a 30-second TV spot (below) launching the "Open Up" campaign, “Mr. Tic Tac” — a suave dude with a British accent, sporting a white suit — freezes time for a few seconds to encourage a shy young man to interact with the people around him in a park.

"There’s a world of possibilities out there — perhaps Tic Tac mints can help you open up a bit,” Mr. Tic Tac declares, suggesting that “Dave” offer mints to some guys jamming on guitars, or to the friendly-looking young woman sitting next to him on the park bench.

The spot, created by Krow Communications, debuted in the U.K. in May (Tic Tac's first brand campaign there in five years) and has been adapted now for the U.S., by the Laundry Service agency.

The spot will air in the U.S. on Fox, TBS, Freeform and MTV. Tac Tac last ran a U.S. TV spot in January, as part of its "Go Little" campaign.

The new campaign also includes six-second digital bumpers; paid ads on Instagram Stories; and organic promotion on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
