Viacom Taps Lego Executive For Digital Studios Post

Viacom continues to ramp up its digital studios business, which produces programming for streaming services and platforms like Facebook, Hulu and Netflix, as well as digital content for the company’s own platforms.

The company says has hired Lars Silberbauer to serve as senior vice president, MTV Digital Studios unit.

Silberbauer most previously served as senior global director, social media and video, Lego, where he led the company’s media efforts, including the launch of a Lego TV channel, now available in 24 world markets.

At MTV Studios, Silberbauer will be tasked with managing development, production and creative for the company’s original digital programming. That will include oversight of the “Cribs” and “TRL” brands, which are being rebooted for its digital and social platforms.

He will report to Kelly Day, president, Viacom Digital Studios, as well as Jacqueline Parkes, CMO-executive vice president, digital studios, MTV, VH1 and Logo Group.

MTV Studios is just one of a handful of digital studios under the Viacom Digital Studios umbrella. Comedy Central and Nickelodeon also have studios developing digital content.
