Chief Executive Tim Cook, Apple CEO, issued a call for U.S.-wide data-protection regulations. Cook used the word "weaponized" to describe how U.S. citizens are being taken advantage. His
"sharply worded speech" came during a privacy conference organized by the European Union. He told the audience and EU privacy regulators that the "U.S. should enact a
comprehensive federal privacy law that follows their example."
