SpotX, SyncBack Add Revenue Options For Local Broadcasters

The video advertising platform SpotX has signed a deal with the over-the-top video technology platform SyncBack to bring more revenue opportunities to local broadcasters.

SyncBack’s technology powers live streaming video delivered from local broadcast stations to services like CBS All Access, Fubo TV, and Hulu.

The deal will see SpotX connect into SyncBack’s dynamic ad insertion solution AdSync, allowing content owners to tap into that monetization option. SyncBack will also utilize SpotX’s programmatic ad decisioning layer and the company’s ad serving tech.

SyncBack’s has two products: SBTV and SimpleSync. SimpleSync is a technology platform that lets local stations stream video to internet-connected devices, while SBTV is an app and website that lets users stream video from their local TV stations.

The company will also continue to execute direct ad deals with advertisers.

While SyncBack and its clients gain access to a new revenue source, SpotX suggests the deal also helps bridge the divide between streaming video and linear TV.

Benjamin Abbatiello, vice president, audience and distribution management, SpotX, calls this a "massive opportunity for advertisers." He adds they will be able to reach "two different audience segment simultaneously, viewers watching traditional linear TV and those tuning in via OTT.”
